How to Prepare for Your Lash Extension Appointment
Preparing for your appointments and gather the needed information is a crucial step that so many of us overlook!
If it’s a new client make sure to ask the following questions:
- Have they had extensions before? That may determine if you need or don’t need to do a patch test?
- Do you need to remove existing lashes? If you forgot to ask and they show up with old extensions, it might cut another 30 min into your appointment removing, cleaning and preparing them!!!
- Are they interested in classic or volume set? Have the pictures of the required sets ready. I highly recommended printing the pictures into a catalog or a book, this way they can browse the pictures while waiting for the appointment, it will save you so much time. It’s easier for a customer to point out to a picture and say “I want this”, as apposed to trying to describe what they mean by a natural set, which in their mind can be length 18mm. 🤭
- Make sure to text a confirmation to make sure they are actually coming. I suggest including parking instructions whether there is parking in the back or street parking, the name of the street for directions or a known landmark. And a reminder to come with no make up, sunscreen, moisturizer. They should not have caffeine before the appointment, no spray tan before, no conditioner on the hair if they are washing their hair in the morning.
- Make sure they know how long the appointment will take. You don’t want them telling you an hour into the appointment that their previous “lash lady” did their lashes in 45 min and they need to go. The client might be pregnant and not comfortable laying for 2-3 hours on their back, they might require special accommodations that you need to be aware off.
- Make sure they know the price and the payment method. You don’t want to spend two hours doing their lashes and in the end they hand you a check or say they thought they can Venmo you the money later. Yes, I know it’s uncomfortable to discuss money with a new client, but it’s better to be uncomfortable than unpaid 🤷🏻♀️
